Book Review: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

One of the greatest things about having a bad memory is the ability to reread a book as if it’s the first time, which is exactly what I did with The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. A lot of people have described this book as “Light and Fluffy”, which is true, but then it doesn’t pretend to be anything more than that. It’s a typically unrealistic story of Hadley missing her flight, and in a lucky twist of fate meets Oliver who happens to be on the next one, and they end up falling in love. Alongside the love story, is a parent remarriage scenario, which sees the lead Hadley begrudgingly going to her fathers wedding to a women who she has never met before. The ending is somewhat predictable with (SPOILERS) Hadley getting the boy and also forgiving her father for leaving her mum for another woman. There are moments where it’s gets a bit cheesy, for example when Hadley and Oliver pretend that they’re a couple whilst talking to a woman on the plane and realistically no one would ever run out on their dads wedding to go find a boy they’ve just met. Having said that, the book over all is a fun read and perfect if you want something uncomplicated.
